First IBD Registry CEO appointed
The IBD Registry Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Liz Dobson as the first Chief Executive Officer of IBD Registry Ltd from 16th April 2018.
Liz brings to the IBD Registry 20 years of executive and senior management experience from the private and 
not-for-profit sector, including early stage businesses. She brings both the leadership and business skills that the IBD Registry needs as a new non-profit company, combined with a robust background in operations, and technical understanding that will be of huge benefit to the Registry as it embarks on this next stage of its growth. Liz’s experience is underpinned by a Sloan Fellow MSc (Business) from London Business School, and BSc (Maths) first class honours.

Quality Accounts in England
The IBD Registry’s Biologics Audit is included in NHS England’s Quality Accounts for 2018/19. The focus of the audit remains the same as last year, aiming to collect data on all patients who received biological therapy at any time during the year. Data is requested at three time points: initiation, post-induction review and 12-month review. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: the deadline for the final 2017/18 IBD biologics audit data submission has been extended to Friday 13th April. Please contact [email protected] if you need any assistance.

BSG symposium – save the date
The IBD Section Symposium at the BSG annual meeting will take place on Wed 6th June, 09:00-10:30, in Hall 3a at the ACC in Liverpool. The symposium will include a tribute to Richard Driscoll as well as updates on the IBD Registry’s progress and plans.
Calling all Ferring database users – deadline approaching
As many of you are aware, the development of the UK IBD Registry, with its own data entry systems, has prompted a re-evaluation of Ferring’s involvement in the provision of the IBD Database as it effectively duplicates those provided by the Registry. Ferring have decided therefore to redirect their resources and will end their sponsorship of the IBD Database from 30th June 2018.
To facilitate the transfer of data, Ferring have invested, in conjunction with North Bristol NHS Trust, in the development of Version 4. This will allow data to be uploaded to the IBD Registry (via NHS Digital), and is available to all current users of the Ferring Database. Ferring are pleased to be able to offer support to upgrade to Version 4 up to the end of June 2018.

GI/ IBD Nurse of the Year
The British Journal of Nursing Gastrointestinal/IBD Nurse of the Year award was awarded to Pearl Avery last month. Pearl’s use of local data collected using the IBD Registry PMS has made a big impact, enabling her to increase the CNS staff. She commented: “I am honoured but still rather overwhelmed. Ultimately, I want to make this work for my local patients and continue to show how valuable IBD nurses are to those patients …it is wonderful to be recognised for work that you absolutely love and a national award like this is incredible. I am aware I am only as good as the team around me and I feel this is as much their award as it is mine.”
Richard Driscoll’s Memorial
On the 19th March 2018 the IBD Registry, HQIP and Crohn’s and Colitis UK held a memorial for Richard Driscoll at the Royal College of Physicians, reflecting on his contribution to improving the care of IBD patients throughout his long career. Crohn’s and Colitis UK announced a new research fellowship in Richard’s memory. The fellowship aims to help junior medics with an interest in IBD to develop into outstanding clinicians and future leaders in the field.
