As you may be aware, the IBD Registry is delighted to be working with 16 other organisations to transform IBD care and outcomes in the UK as part of IBD UK. IBD UK launched in 2019 the revised IBD Service Standards, the organisational element of the full Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Audit, as a complement to the Registry’s rolling IBD Biological Therapies Audit, providing the clinical audit element.
The IBD Service Standards are assessed by the IBD Benchmarking Tool, which allows a service to benchmark its performance against the 2019 IBD Standards, supported by an IBD UK Patient Survey.
The IBD UK Patient Survey has now closed, with over 10,000 surveys completed, and 88% of IBD clinical teams across the UK have already registered for the IBD Benchmarking Tool.
The vision is that together these assessments will allow services to identify what is working well and where their service can be improved.
The deadline for the first IBD Benchmarking self-assessment has been extended to 31st January 2020.
We’d really like to encourage all IBD teams to complete their self-assessments before this date, when the self-assessment closes. Please spread the word and help improve outcomes for patients.

The results of both the IBD Benchmarking Tool and the IBD Biological Therapies Audit will be available in March 2020, and able to inform business cases and targeted plans for quality improvement.
Following this, national reports will be produced, giving an overall picture of IBD care across the UK.

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Audit, provided by the IBD Registry, has been listed on Quality Accounts since 2016.
For 2019-20 we are pleased to complement the Registry’s rolling clinical audit with the new IBD Service Standards workstream.
Trusts are encouraged to fully participate in Quality Accounts by submitting both clinical and organisational data from the two complementary workstreams.
