End of shielding in the UK nations

Aug 1, 2020

The UK governments have introduced a relaxation of shielding measures for high risk people, although you may be asked to shield again if there’s an outbreak in your local area. The shielding scheme in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland paused from 31 July 2020, and the shielding scheme in Wales will be paused after 16 August 2020. More information is available from Crohn’s & Colitis UK here and the official UK Government statement can be read here

The ongoing status of COVID19 IBD Risk Tool has been reviewed, and as it is still being used by people with IBD who want to self-assess their risk, and the BSG Risk Grid on which it is based is still current, it has been decided to leave the COVID19 IBD Risk Tool accessible and active.  However, given the lowered level of use, the sharing of data with the patient’s clinical team will be paused i.e. the Tool will be solely for the patient’s use.
