IBD Registry reappointed as provider for IBD Quality Accounts for 2020-21

Jan 18, 2020

The Health Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) has confirmed the IBD Registry as the provider organisation for Quality Accounts for NHS Trusts providing Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) services in England & Wales.

HQIP, which runs the Quality Accounts scheme on behalf of NHS England, announced the Quality Accounts providers this week, 14th January,  for a range of disease areas including IBD for 2020-21.

Quality Accounts cover the quality of an NHS Trust’s services in the previous financial year. NHS Trusts are required under legislation to report whether they have participated or not in Quality Accounts. Trusts submit their Quality Accounts to the Secretary of State for Health.

The IBD Registry offers a service to track each NHS Trust’s ongoing record in meeting the IBD Biologics Audit KPIs and provides a bespoke, locally benchmarked, report quarterly. The Registry uses its data analytics capability in calculating these, making a basic cost-recovery charge for this service.

Liz Dobson, CEO of the Registry, said, “We are delighted to be appointed again as the provider organisation for Quality Accounts in IBD.

“A key part of our support for NHS Trusts is providing them with the analysed data they need to support their local quality improvement.

“We very much encourage IBD clinical teams to start participation early in the year to maximise the data submitted to the rolling Audit and thus the local analysis we can provide back to them.”

The Registry’s IBD clinical Biological Therapies Audit has been listed on the Quality Accounts scheme since 2016. For 2019-20 the Registry’s rolling clinical audit has been joined by the new IBD Service Standards workstream, focusing on the more organisational aspects of IBD care*.

IBD clinical teams are encouraged to participate in Quality Accounts by submitting both clinical and organisational data from the two complementary workstreams.
